Hi Linda,
Just found your blog and am so happy I did. I was just thinking about Eagles and their offspring. The nest is a safe place for the babies but only for a time. As they grow, the nest becomes a haven no longer and, in order to survive, the babies need to be pushed out and learn to fly or they will die. To do this, the eaglets need to find the courage to flap their wings when their mother pushes them over the edge. This isn’t easy to find that courage and it would be so much easier if the eaglets would know that, if they fail to flap their wings, the mother will dive down and scoop up the baby that is falling, fly them back to the nest and then push them out again until the eaglet learns the technique needed to survive.
We aren’t unlike those eaglets. Sure, we need courage but we also know that we need and have the reassurance of God that, when we get pushed over to fly on our own, we really are never by ourselves for an instant. God is close by and will catch us if we fall, set us back on our feet again in a safe place and stand by as we gather up courage once again so that God can push us out and teach us to fly, no matter how many times that is done. He has the patience and the care to never leave our side until we are able to do it on our own.
